Installation of New Team
Kavita Rege was installed as President for the year 2018-19 at the Rotary Service Centre.
In December 2018 meeting when our members got to know that I have retired they immediately decided that I should be the President for the next year. I wasn’t given much choice. Although I have been a member for more than twenty years, my exigencies of work didn’t allow me to participate much in our Club activities. Once consented, there was no looking back and I started by studying the Constitution book and trying to assimilate as much as I could.
Everyone helped and came forward with on-going projects and suggestions for new ones. Our generous members never ever let a project go for want of funds. A mere message on whatsapp and the funds would be raised. It was so touching to see so many hands and hearts coming forward to give back to community. The fellowship was excellent. All the hostesses’ groups came forward with innovative ideas to make the meetings interesting. We could do many projects and attendance was quite satisfactory. I was very impressed by the systematic way Inner Wheel work is being done. The instructions are quite clear to follow. Triennial was also a good learning. All in all, I must say that the Presidentship has been an enriching experience for me and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I am sure that every incoming President would enjoy this camaraderie and emerge a more enriched person. The credit for all this goes to my dear members who stood by me, took care of me and loved me in true spirit of International Inner Wheel.
Dr. Kavita Rege
District Chairman’s Message
Success is delivered only to the deserving. Congratulations Kavita on your achievements for the last six months. In spite of being a comparatively new member you have done wonderful work. Your today’s success is the beginning of tomorrow’s achievement. I am sure the rest of the year will be as satisfying. The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. She is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things. You have taken your Club members along with you and proved – working together works.
Members of a Club, with a Past International President are blessed with sound advice and direction. We all look up to Dr. Pallavi Shah when we are in any kind of difficulty. Past District Chairmen like Sarayuben Shah and Dr. Shobha Ahuja are a guiding force for Inner Wheel Club of Bombay West.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” ~ Maya Angelou
This a great yardstick for life, not the number of years that we rack up but the number of times we have those moments that make life worth living. By your small acts of service to society, you get the satisfaction of being of help to someone. We have to experience joy in all the good things that life has to offer.
Clubs are doing a lot for senior citizens this year. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Be modest in your approach to our elderly and go to their level when you are spending time with them.
Wishing all the members of your IWC Bombay West a very fruitful year of service to the community around you.
Yours in Inner Wheel,
District Chairman, 2018-19
